Moon, Audio, Five, Six, Blue, Shoes

Dear Grandchildren,

Can you see the moon at night from your house?  Sometimes when people live in big cities or towns, there are so many lights from stores and streetlights, that people can't see the sky.  Sometimes the moon looks like a big round ball, and sometimes it looks like a fingernail or toenail clipping.  Here is a part of a song about the moon.

I see the moon, the moon sees me,
I love the moon, the moon loves me.
I ask the moon that shines on me,
Shine on the one I love.

You can draw a picture of a moon by drawing a big zero, and then sing this song while you draw.  Do you know the song "Hey, Diddle, Diddle "?

Hey, diddle, diddle
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

There is a funny picture of these animals for you to color. Do you think a cow could jump clear over the moon? Have you ever seen a cat play a violin? These are called pretend things. Pretend things are not real, but are just for fun. Have you ever pretended you are a fireman or a ballet dancer? Maybe you like to pretend you are an animal or something else. Pretending can be lots of fun.

Time to print out another ice cream cone and ask have somebody write "I like blue ice cream."  Don't forget to say "Thank you." What else is blue?  I am thinking of skies that are blue.  Some flowers are blue. Blueberries are blue.  Does somebody in your family have blue eyes? What can you find in your house that is blue for the I spy with my little eye game?

Let's do our number for today.  What should today's number be?  Let's see, we did zero, one, two, three, four, and today will be five and six. Making a five is fun. Start at the top on the down line, then make a big, fat tummy. Now go back and make a line across. Can you guess what to do with your counting box?

You are such a good worker and can do hard things. do you think you can do a very hard thing today? Do you think that you can make a page of fives and then rest a little while and do a page of sixes? Let's try. Here is how to do a six. Start at the top and make a curved stick that is rolling a ball. You can roll balls with sticks, six, six, six!

Are you remembering to put your shoes and clothes away?  You can sing the "Cowboy Ned" song every night so you don't forget.

Here is a good way to know which shoe goes on the right foot.  It's no fun to get our shoes on the wrong feet, is it?  It feels awful.  You will need a tiny "x" on the left side of your right shoe, and a tiny "x" on the right side of your left shoe, so that when the shoes are put together, the "x's" touch, like your shoes are kissing.  Now you can put the shoes in front of your feet, and you will know which shoe goes on which foot.  Whoever heard of kissing shoes!  That is so silly!

Let's all work on good manners.  When we are eating, always chew with your mouth closed.  Nobody likes to hear someone smacking their food like pigs eat.  That is a yucky noise.  Grandma will work hard to always chew with my mouth closed.  Can you try to do it too?

Grandpa and Grandma are so very proud of you.

Love, Grandma
