We use a reseach log to track the research we do to find the data on individuals.

Research Logs in FamilySearch

• Record the log in the notes section of each individual.
• Use one note for each event (birth, christening, marriage, residence, death, burial)
• In the title use the format: Research Log for his/her (event)
• Use the following format in the note for each search
• Years searched;
• Place searched;
• Describe the document searched (type, location, call number, website) ;
• Record the results

Research Logs in Ancestry

• Record the log in the comments section of each individual.
• Use one comment for each event (birth, christening, marriage, residence, death, burial)
• Record the event at the top of the comment
• Use the following format in the comment below the event for each search
• Years searched;
• Place searched;
• Describe the document searched (type, location, call number, website);
• Record the results
